· information about the timing, duration and scale of horizontal and vertical movements of cod
· definitions of systematic changes in the horizontal availability and vertical accessibility of cod to fishing and acoustic survey gears, and recommendations for acoustic/ fishing survey interpretation
· assessments of the potential and location of effective closed areas to conserve cod stocks
·understanding of the links between the environment and cod behaviour
· improvement our ability to predict the movements and spatial distribution of cod in response to changes in fishing effort or environmental parameters, and thus provide new biological inputs to models of assessment and management
· To disseminate management relevant information gained from the research to fisheries managers as widely as possibly through a variety of fora e.g. through publications, attendance of key project personnel at relevant ICES Working and Study Groups, publication of project progress in ICES newsletter, articles in the popular press (e.g. International Fishing News), presentations of key results at ICES and other conferences, organisation of EU-wide workshops and mini-symposia (e.g. ICES Working Groups), peer review publications, this website etc.
